Job Description:
We are seeking a guide for our 6-9 year-old studio.
Acton Academy Kingwood guides are not teachers in the traditional sense; they are coaches, mentors, Socratic discussion leaders, imaginative game makers, and role models who love to learn, have a heart for children, are loving, patient, observant, and a good balance of kind hearted and tough minded.
A guide's ultimate goals are to equip, connect, and inspire students to explore and take ownership of their learning.
Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will have a deep heart for children and a trust and respect for their ability to learn and grow without heavy adult intervention.
He or she must have passion for disruptive education and will be deeply curious and ready to learn and work hard.
He or she will be agile with online learning and have excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills.
He or she will be both kind-hearted and tough-minded with a calm demeanor.
On-the-ground experience working with youth in the 6-9 year-old age range is highly desirable.
Elementary Montessori experience is highly desirable.
A flexible, lifelong-learner mindset is required (this position will require someone who is interested in learning Montessori and Acton and is excited about teaching in a non-traditional environment).
A bachelor's degree in any subject or commensurate experience is desirable.
